John Odame-Darkwah

John Odame-Darkwah is currently the Managing Partner of Corban Consult Limited and an astute and accomplished Food Technologist and an expert in Food Safety and Quality Management Systems, Food Laws, Regulations, Guidelines, Standards and Regulatory Compliance with a strong passion for safe and quality food, improved nutrition, protection of public health and safety, promotion of fair trade and national development. He holds an MSc. in Food Science & Technology (USA), BSc. in Food Science and Biochemistry (Ghana), Certificates in HACCP (USA), Better Food Processing, (USA), Food Quality Control and Processing (Holland), Food and Drugs Regulatory System (USA) and Quality Monitoring System, Food Safety and Regulatory Systems. He is also a Cochran Fellow and had post-graduate internship with the Centre for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition of the US FDA and Food Safety and Inspection Services of USDA in US Food Safety Regulatory Systems. He has Over thirty years of experience in the formulation of policies, strategies, standards, codes of practice and guidelines relating to Food Safety Regulatory systems,  in-depth knowledge and working experience in National and International Food Laws and Regulations, National Food Standards and Food Control Systems,  Food Manufacturing Operations ( FMOs), Food Safety and Quality Management Systems ( HACCP and ISO 22000 ), Codex Food Standards,  Risk Assessment, Consumer Protection and  Auditing of Food Safety and Quality Management Systems. John Odame-Darkwah has also immensely contributed to the development of National Quality Infrastructure and associated policies and strategies in Ghana. John Odame-Darkwah served as the national Chairperson for Codex Subcommittee on Food Hygiene, and Head of delegation at Codex Committee on Food Hygiene Meetings for ten (10) years and contributed to establishment of over twenty (20) Food Hygiene Standards and two (2) Codex General Principles.  He currently Co-Chairs an electronic and physical Working Groups with France and the USA to revise the "Proposed Draft Revision of the General Principles of Food Hygiene and HACCP”. In addition to the above John Odame-Darkwah has consulted widely and served as a resource person in several countries (Ghana, Nigeria, United Kingdom, United States, Netherlands, China) and for international organisations such as WHO, FAO, GIZ, IAEA AMEX International, African Union and the European Union. John Odame-Darkah has also attended and presented scientific papers in several international conferences and has publications and technical reports to his credit. John Odame-Darkwah brings to the board of AikEN Institute his unparalleled experience, insights and networks, which we believe will be essential in achieving the vision and mission of AiKEN Institute.
