Akua Mirekua Nimako-Boateng

Akua holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy and Political Science (University of Ghana) a Bachelor of Laws Degree (Faculty of Law, University of Ghana) and a Qualifying Law Certificate (Ghana School of Law). Akua is Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana having been called to the Ghana Bar in 2013. Akua is multi-skilled legal professional with experience in corporate & commercial law practice, drafting and review of commercial agreements including Joint Venture and Share Transfer Agreements for corporate bodies and individuals; legal advice and opinions on various aspects of the law including conveyancing; due diligence, regulatory compliance; company secretarial duties; legal research among others. Akua has over the years advised Clients on many legal issues and has gained solid experience in civil ligation as well as alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and represented both individuals and corporate institutions at different levels in the Superior Courts of Ghana. Akua also has experience in corporate and commercial law, Land law and conveyancing and labour & industrial law. She has great interest in Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms which has driven her to obtain a certificate in International Commercial Arbitration.

With an outstanding skill in drafting, Akua was part of a team of Consultants that reviewed and drafted the establishment laws of Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA). Akua also enjoys the drafting of other legal documents, including mortgages, assignments for corporate organizations and financial institutions. Akua is a member of the Ghana Bar Association. She is also a member of the International Bar Association (IBA) and currently serves as the Diversity and Inclusion Officer of the Professional Ethics Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA). In her spare moments, Akua performs Community Legal Services (Pro bono) for the University and surrounding communities, including presentations on Wills, Probate and administration services and Family Law.
