Richard Adjetey is a Social Protection expert with eighteen (18) years’ experience in Policy development and design of social protection (SP) programmes for vulnerable groups. He also has expertise in the management of emergency social protection programmes (ESPP) and the development of monitoring and evaluation tools for SP programmes.
Adjetey currently holds the position of Director at Ghana National Household Registry (GNHR), World Bank/ DFID funded project under Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP). Before joining GNHR, Richard worked as Director for the Social Protection (SP) directorate under the MoGCSP where he is responsible for managing the implementation of the National Social Protection Strategy (NSPS). His mandate included the development of the National Social Protection Policy and Bill as well as the development of M&E framework to monitor social protection programmes. He is currently a member of Sub-Sahara Africa and East Africa Community of Practice on Social Safety nets.
Adjetey is an avid writer and researcher, and has several publications in area of social protection. He obtained his PhD at University of Ghana and has several degrees and qualifications from University of Ghana; Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST); MCGILL University; Economic Policy and Research Institute, Cape Town – South Africa; Maastricht Graduate School of Governance, Netherlands; Institute of Development Studies (IDS), Chaing Mai, Thailand; and International Training Center/ILO. His work focuses on social protection, with particular interest in social exclusion, poverty and inequality measurement, institutional arrangement and public policy analysis with a regional focus on the Sub-Saharan African and East African countries. Alongside social protection, his work also focuses on the planning, coordinating and management of data collection activities for vulnerable groups.
Adjetey has had managerial and consulting experience in the areas of human development, social protection and management of data collection activities with focus on households and non- households.
